The founder first became acquainted with the function of a water heat pump in 1971, and ever since then, the idea has stuck. From then on, not even a single litre of oil or one cubic metre of gas was burned in any of the offices or houses. In fact, the founder’s entire family heats their homes exclusively with heat pumps (groundwater, geothermal, and air source) and electricity that is partially self-produced by photovoltaics.
Where work meets sustainability
At Bergbauer, a groundwater heat pump has been used to heat office buildings since 1981. The company’s current headquarters, which has an effective area of 1,800 square meters and was constructed in 2002 utilising a timber frame construction system, relies entirely on a geothermal heat pump for heating. The electricity necessary for the operation of the pump is obtained, in part, from rooftop photovoltaic panels and the rest from batteries. Finally, all bulbs are energy-saving or LED.
A workplace that leads by example
