With 99% of businesses in the EU being SMEs and collectively accounting for more than half of Europe’s GDP, they are the bedrock of the European economy.
Generali strongly believes that their impact on the environment and the communities where they operate is an aspect of paramount importance when aiming for a more sustainable future. And since sustainability lies at the core of everything Generali does, the connection with SMEs was the next natural step.
That’s how SME EnterPRIZE was born. A flagship initiative for the celebration of the Group’s 190th anniversary, inaugurated this year across seven different European countries, the project rewards SMEs that have transitioned to more sustainable models and encourages the exchange and discussion of best practices among entrepreneurs.
In this video interview, Lucia Silva, Generali Group’s Head of Sustainability and Social Responsibility, walks us through the ins and outs of the project, telling us about the three pillars upon which it was built, and explaining how giving recognition to ‘Sustainability Heroes’ is crucial to realising the Group’s shared vision of securing a more sustainable future for generations to come.
